Book Club

West Platte Elementary now has a Breakfast Book Club! The club meets in the library at 7:30am on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. Students may choose any book to read, however, at times, we will have a chosen genre to stay within. Students will meet to discuss the characters, plot, and other story elements and create book review videos to share with other students.

Students must finish the book prior to creating a book review video, but the meetings are open to anyone who would like to discuss what they are reading. Students should bring the book they are reading to the meeting for discussion.

Breakfast Book Club is a wonderful way to help students improve reading comprehension skills, however, it is really about having fun and enjoying reading.

Mission: To encourage reading for pleasure and to give students an opportunity to talk about the books they love.

Meetings: The Book Club meets from 7:30-8:10am, twice a month in the Elementary Library. Students may bring breakfast or buy it from the cafeteria, but cannot share with others due to food allergies.

Participation: Students who are in 3rd through 6th grade may participate in the Breakfast Book Club. No permission slips necessary unless there is a special event.

Dues: There are no dues for participating in the Book Club, but money may be required if there is a special event.
