From Ms. Parsons: One Bag Can Make A Difference
This years Giving Project, which was held again by Ms. Parsons’ sixth grade class, was another successful act of kindness by the West Platte community. Ms. Parsons and her sixth grade students once again asked the student body, staff, and community to help them collect and donate items for a charitable organization in need during the holiday season. The project was held for 15 school days this year and between December 4th and December 21st West Platte collected personal travel sized items, fruit, bottled water, and blankets to be placed into Blessings Bags for an organization known as Your Wellness Connection. Your Wellness Connection provides numerous acts of service and support for the homeless in the KC Metro and Northland areas.
When the Giving Project had come to a close and before all the students left for winter break, West Platte Elementary had collected enough items to create nearly 100 Blessings Bags. The bags were assembled by Ms. Parsons’ class and a caring handwritten note was placed inside from the students and from members of our character council.
Ms. Parsons delivered the Blessings Bags before the holidays to Your Wellness Connection and they were so appreciative for our loving donation. Ms. Parsons and her sixth grade students would like to thank everyone who helped with the Giving Project and for all of your continued acts of love and kindness. Wishing you all a Happy New Year!
