DI Global Finals

Elementary bannerWest Platte Destination Imagination (DI) sent four teams to compete at the international competition “Global Finals” in Kansas City, May 22-25. Our teams each presented their STEAM-based (science, engineering, arts and mathematics) Challenge solutions during this tournament that was attended by approximately 1,200 teams from 38 states and 17 countries. It is an honor to compete at this level, and amazing to see so many creative problem solvers in action! Competition involved presenting the solution to their team challenge --- a solution that teams have worked on since last October, as well as solving an “Instant Challenge” that allows students to show how they can work as a team and think on their feet. Over the course of the four day tournament, our students celebrated at opening and closing ceremonies, attended the unique DI costume ball, and traded pins with other kids from across the world! Congratulations to West Platte teams: The Competitive Couch Potatoes (Sophie Grier, Morgan VanNatta, Addison Bailey, Molly Cline, Aiden Hamilton, Ivy Lewis), Blue Jays Do It Better Together (Molly Cline, Peyton Cook, Eliana Clark, Charly O’Neal), This is Your Instant Challenge (Blake Schoon, Matik Heskin, Amber Pennington), and WP Varsity (Cole Vandel, Wyatt Kleman, Conner Bolch, Coy Kirby).

Our teams were able to attend this competition with funding from the West Platte School District, and donations from the West Platte PTO, West Platte Education Foundation, Light Works, Inc., West Platte Booster Club, Platte Valley Bank, Bank Liberty, CTB, Inc., Brent Clark, and the Cline and Kleman families. Thank you to all of our donors for supporting Destination Imagination at West Platte, and making it possible for our students to compete on a global scale!
